2015 ENTRIES OPEN ON 1st MARCH 2015.

There are several ways to pre-enter the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and all associated events:

  • Online entries: Press the “ENTER NOW” tab next to the race tab below – Should you have any enquiries about entering online, please contact entries@capetownmarathon.com or TEL: 087 820 7223.
  • Postal or fax entries: Press the “FIND OUT MORE” tab next to the race tab below, download the race entry form pdf, fill in the relevant information, make full payment and then either post, fax or email your completed entry form along with your proof of EFT or deposit slip to: P O Box 783, Rondebosch, 7701, or to email to entries@capetownmarathon.com or fax to FAX NO. 086 5952450 –

2015 Entries close:

  • The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 42.2km pre-race entries close at midnight on Sunday 6th September 2015 or when 7000 entries have been received.  NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED for the marathon.
  • The Sanlam Cape Town 10km PEACE RUN pre-race entries close at midnight on Sunday 6th September 2015 or when 10000 entries have been received.  Late entries will ONLY be accepted in person at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon EXPO on the 18th September from 10am – 7pm and on the 19th September from 9am – 12noon if the limit has not been achieved.  Avoid disappointment and enter early.
  • The Sanlam Cape Town PEACE Fun Run, late entries will ONLY be accepted in person at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon EXPO on the 18th September from 10am – 7pm and on the 19th September from 9am – 10am.

Minimum Age for Entry

  • For the 42.2km Sanlam Cape Town Marathon runners must be no younger than 20 years of age on the day of the race.
  • For the 10km Peace Run runners must be no younger than 15 years of age on the day of the race.
  • The minimum age for the Peace Trail 21.1km is 17 years old on the day of the race.
  • The minimum age for the Peace Trail 11km is 15 years old on the day of the race.

Entry for Age Category Runners

  • Runners may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age, or any younger category up to senior.
  • Runners will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter.
  • Age Category Runners are also eligible to win overall Open prizes,
  • Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of runners’ vests. Age tags will be available for purchase at Race Registration.

  • The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon event organizers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.
  • Runners participate at their own risk.
  • The organizers Western Province Athletics (WPA), the City of Cape Town and ASEM Running, all sponsors, officials, volunteers, medical personnel and any and all local authorities cannot be held responsible for any damage, injuries, illness or losses incurred whatsoever – whether before, during or after the race.

Licence Requirements

  • An ASA Licence or a temporary licence is required with your entry.
  • Should you not belong to a provincial athletics club affiliated to Athletics South Africa (ASA), you will need to purchase a temporary licence.
  • International participants must adhere to the relevant IAAF rules.

Upgrades, downgrades or substitutions will only accepted, in writing, before 5 September 2014.

No refunds will be processed for downgrades.
The closing date for Marathon entries and Peace 10km entries is 5 September 2014

Fun Run and Peace Relay pre-race entries close on 14th September 2014.

Trail runs are by electronic entries only.

Race Registration and Race Number Collection

  • Runners must present their proof of entry and proof of identification (identity document, passport or driver’s license) at Race Registration
  • Runners must collect their race packs prior to the race at Race Registration.
  • Race packs will include your race number, timing chip and relevant race information, as well as the t-shirt you ordered.
  • You may provide a third-party with a letter of authorization to collect your race pack on your behalf.  They must also present your proof of entry, your proof of identification and their own proof of identification.
  • We regret that we cannot provide refunds to runners who do not collect their race packs at Race Registration, nor will be able to forward your uncollected race pack to you.
  • Late entries at Race Registration will only be accepted on 19 September 2014
  • Race Registration and Number Collection – (venue to be confirmed) from 19 September 2014 to 20th September 2014

Race Numbers

  • At Race Registration, runners will receive two race numbers which must securely pinned, on the front and on the back of your upper body garment.
  • No race numbers may be pinned on sleeves, running shorts or headgear.
  • Your race number must not be folded or crinkled, and the foam strip must not be removed.
  • Runners may not transfer their race numbers to other runners.
  • Any runner who is found guilty of breaking this rule will be banned from the race for 1 year, in addition to them being disqualified from the current year.

 Timing Chip

  • Runners will need to in posession of a Racetec timing chip or purchase one to receive race times.
  • The timing chip will be attached to your shoe or ankle.
  • Please do not use any other timing chip, as it may interfere with this system.
  • Failure to wear the timing chip will result in your details being omitted from the race results.
  • Runners may not transfer their race numbers to other runners.
  • There will be a timing mat at the start, halfway and finish of the 42.2km Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and 10km Peace Run which are both gun to mat races.
  • Your times at the halfway mark and the finish will be provided.
  • Any runner crossing the start mat before the gun will be disqualified.
  • Do not cross the finish line twice.

  • Tog Bag facilities will be available at the start of both the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and Cape Town 10km at the designated area.
  • Please ensure your bag is labeled with your name and contact details.
  • We advise runners not to place expensive or valuable items in their bags.
  • The organizers are not responsible for any loss or damage to your personal belongings.

 Medical Assistance

  • Medical assistance will be available at the start, en route and at the finish.
  • It is vital that runners provide their correct and full medical information on their entry.
  • Should you require hospital treatment, you will be charged according to the hospital tariff rate.

 Finish

  • The finish line must be crossed for a runner to officially finish a race.
  • At the race finish line, your time will be recorded as you cross the timing mat.

Prize Giving & Medals
